Hovercraft can be used to best advantage in shallow water and drying areas, these areas often
being remote and environmentally sensitive. Hovercraft are able to operate in these areas in an environmentally friendly way
for the following reasons:
- While very unlikely to occur, the Very low footprint, pressure maximum of 32 Kg / m2 above atmospheric, it is possible to hover over animals
or birds without causing injury.
- Grasses
and reeds depressed but will grow back.
- Hovercraft noise level is minimal. The twin ducted propellers of the twin engine Hovercraft reduce
noise emissions to low levels. Wading birds often feed within meters of the craft.
- Very low wash characteristics. Hovercraft wake or
wash is almost non existent at speed. When operating Hovercraft on sheltered waters or rivers low wash
characteristics can avoid erosion of the shore and problems when passing small craft such as canoes.
- Hovercraft do not require, docks, piers
or dredged channels and can operate off many beach sites. Road access to the maintenance base is desirable but not essential.Fully
amphibious Hovercraft are able to make the transition from water to land and vice versa.
